*Forehead slap*

17 May

On Friday I ate a late lunch of chicken nuggets with ‘spicy curry dip’ (drawn in large part by the promise of spicy, which remained just that- an unkept promise…) and added a bowlful of what I thought was a berry-flavoured fruit yogurt. True, it said ‘fruit quark’, and I knew yogurt was generally called ‘joghurt’, but I put it down to the vagaries of language. Heck, in India, you can eat curd or yogurt or dahi, and you’d be eating the same thing. When I got to the cash counter, I blinked a little, because the total showed up as 2 Euros more than what I thought it should have. I put it down to the quark, and guessed it was priced by weight. Although that still seemed rather expensive for yogurt.

Well, yes, it was. Because quark isn’t yogurt *apply here the title of the post*. According to an expat blog I’ve been reading for a few days, ‘quark’ is a soft cheese spread on bread or used as pastry filling (!). The cashier lady must have been wondering what I was planning to do with 200gms of quark. (I ate it. Like joghurt.)

Mich brachte dies laufend in Bewegungslaune.

    Herzliche Grüße
    Erik
